SERVICE TO ARMED FORCES
In its service to the Armed Forces and their families, the American Red Cross provides a vehicle for communications, especially during emergencies; financial assistance related to emergency leave and other extenuating circumstances; Red Cross health and safety courses; and trained volunteers for hospitals and other social services. Services are provided to veterans and other civilians and their families in keeping with local and national need and availability of Red Cross resources.
The Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) program delivers essential Red Cross services to active duty members and their families worldwide to help them prevent, prepare for, and cope with emergency situations. In certain circumstances, this also includes active duty National Guard and Reserve Component members.
