Each year Red Cross responds to
disasters, ranging from single-family fires to major disasters
such as floods, tornadoes and hurricanes. They help
thousands of neighbors not only in Central Georgia, but in other
states, by providing food, clothing, shelter, emotional support,
and other emergency needs free of charge.
In addition, the Chapter is involved long before
disasters occur, educating Central Georgians on how to stay safe
should a disaster strike. Free information is available on
potential disasters - to help people plan for specific types of
disaster, reduce their traumatic impact, prevent injuries, save
lives, and reduce the loss of property.
Trained volunteers are essential to keeping the
Red Cross disaster human resources network at peak
performance. Red Cross disaster workers in Central Georgia
are well prepared to meet emergencies because they're
knowledgeable as well as compassionate.
